Thank you for subscribing to the Christian Asian Mental Health (CAMH) updates, which also includes my personal updates. And thanks to Substack for making it possible for us to stay connected over email (or via web or app.)
What in the world is going on?
I know it’s been a long time since I sent out an email. How long? The last update was December 8, 2024. There’s a lot of things that have happened in the world, in your life and mine, and a few things with CAMH. For my personal update, you can skip over the next two sections.
CAMH Update
Christian Asian Mental Health (CAMH) has moved to a new fiscal sponsor for the long-term, with DeoWorks. To keep this update on the shorter side instead of the longer, this partnership is extra valuable for these three reasons:
CAMH is now a part of a relational community with other passionate missionaries, Kingdom-minded leaders, and accelerators. DeoWorks and CAMH both value quality relationships
DeoWorks provides the organizational structure and administration to help with the smaller ministry initiatives.
DeoWorks supports the incubating of new Kingdom projects. I love how DeoWorks is serving as a launching pad to make it possible for more of God’s people to fulfill their dreams and visions.
These are such valuable things together for the Kingdom of God to grow and thrive. I’ve been looking for a community and team to go on this ministry effort and DeoWorks has proven to be a great fit. Learn more about DeoWorks at deoworks.org.
What does this mean to you? Pretty much everything stays the same. You may continue, or start, to partner with CAMH by donating online at camh.network/donate. And FYI, donations will be processed by the PushPay payment processor, under the organizational administration of DeoWorks.
As this transition is now complete, I do want to thank again the two nonprofits that served as the fiscal sponsors that supported CAMH’s first two years: Asian American Christian Collaborative and Catalyst Wellness Alliance. We could have only started because of your help along the way. Thank you.
How CAMH continues its work
With the managerial and organizational expertise of DeoWorks, I am learning better ways to do my ministry work in a healthy and realistic manner. CAMH will continue to do its digital outreach through the Erasing Shame podcast, the CAMH blog, and this newsletter.
Working in a supportive team environment like DeoWorks, albeit remote, is so very encouraging, empowering, and healthy. One tangible expression of this is a weekly sync meeting with the DeoWorks all-volunteer staff.
How am I doing, really?
I’m glad you asked. Or, at least you’re curious enough to read on. (If not, you can skip right along. No pressure. No offense taken.)
First, the most amazing news of God’s overflow of grace. I am now a grandfather! Unbelievable joy! My grandchild’s parents want to stay off the grid, so I think I can briefly mention this milestone. Rejoice with me and I hope to connect with you personally online or in person to share more.
As for me, to be honest, it’s been a steep learning curve regarding self-care and career development. And, about my self-care, I’ve had 11 medicine adjustments over the past 5 months. I thought that I had finally arrived at a healthy mind and heart 3 weeks ago.
And then this week, I discovered that my mental health recovery may not often feel like smooth sailing or auto-pilot cruise control. I am still in the process of recalibrating what a healthy pace of life looks like. That includes slowing down. That includes finding and developing a good work environment. I need to be intentional with doing what I can to manage my overall health constantly and intentionally, while relying on God by faith for what only He can do.
That’s all I have to say about this for now. I’m open to chat more about this and hear where you are in life. You know how to reach me. Appreciate you reading all the way to the end of this update.
