In this edition of the CAMH Update, you’ll get 2 valuable resources for mental health and religion/spirituality (R/S).
Did you know that Religion & Spirituality is a division of American Psychological Association? This means that psychology professionals & academics integrate the role of faith in one’s psychological well-being, cf. nearly 80% of Americans say they practice some type of religion.
The Gospel & Mental Health series
NewStory Church in Los Angeles has a valuable message series that sheds light on how the Gospel brings hope and healing to all of our lives’ struggles and wounds, especially in mental health.
The church has also curated a good collection of Christian resources for mental health.
Psychology & Theology for Asian Americans
For the first time in its history, the Journal of Psychology and Theology has published a special issue on the Integration of Psychology and Theology Within Asian American Contexts.
The journal’s publisher, Sage, has generously unlocked all the articles for free, accessible for a limited time (expires June 18, 2025.)
The editors and contributors have thoughtfully and rigorously compiled this collection to further dialogue and collaboration for this much needed intersectionality (if I may freely use that word.)
And, the article titled “Community Case Study for Enhancing Integrated Mental Health Treatment For Asian Americans: A Collaborative Practice Model” includes a mention for the work done by Christian Asian Mental Health in partnership with Catalyst Wellness Alliance.
Serenity Prayer
During the past several weeks, I’ve been reciting and memorizing the Serenity Prayer. the full version, not the shortened version. It’s been helpful for me to be grounded in my daily life. I don’t have a lot more to share personally, because I’m reluctant to make this update or the Christian Asian Mental Health ministry about me. What I can say is that God is good, all the time, and I’m grateful for every moment. Thank you for letting me share and for your prayers.
